Develocity is a DevOps SaaS product designed to optimize the software build and testing process. Our goal is to offer an interactive demo page that allows potential customers to explore Develocity's functionalities in a hands-on, engaging manner, addressing their specific needs without requiring immediate contact with sales representatives.

The problem

Currently, the only way a prospect can interact with Develocity and see its features is by speaking with a Pre-Sales Engineer or an account manager. This approach is not scalable and restricts prospects from engaging with the product at their own convenience.

We needed a solution that would allow prospects to explore Develocity independently before engaging with a Pre-Sales Engineer. There needed to be a complete overhaul of the end-to-end digital experience of the interactive portal in an effort to:

Make it easier and faster for prospects to explore Develocity’s features independently
Provide a platform for introducing new features seamlessly in the future
Expand the accessibility of the product to a broader range of potential clients

My role

As the sole designer, I was responsible for designing the core flow of the interactive portal. I also led design reviews with product owners, the sales team, pre-sales engineering, marketing, and the SEO team. Additionally, I collaborated with these teams to ensure the design met user needs, aligned with business goals, and adhered to best practices.

With a clear understanding of the project goals, I began ideating and designing the interactive demo page. This phase included:

Creating wireframes & prototypes to visualize the interactive elements
Designing a user-friendly interface
Ensuring the design is modular and flexible to allow for scalabiility

I conducted multiple design reviews with stakeholders to refine the concepts and ensure alignment with business objectives.

Creating storylane demos

I partnered closely with the pre-sales engineering team in the creation of storyline demos that were going to be used for this interactive demo portal. The collaboration with the pre-sales engineering team proved invaluable as they have direct interaction with the customers.

The solution

Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, I iterated on the designs, refining the interactive demo portal to not only showcase the breadth of Develocity's capabilities but also empower users to effortlessly explore and engage with the platform. Below are the main considerations that were taken into account:

Streamlined Navigation: Creating a user-friendly navigation system to ensure ease of exploration and discovery within the demo portal.
Customization: Implementing customization features that enable users to tailor their demo experience to see features specifically relevant to their needs and interests.
Realistic Experience: Providing a realistic interactive demo for users to interact with.

The final outcome

After the handoff, my role didn't end—I stayed engaged to ensure a smooth transition from design to implementation. I conducted thorough QA and this final step in the process allowed me to address any discrepancies and fine-tune elements as needed before the launch.
